The Why is more important than the How...

A month or two ago my dad nonchalantly passed off to me Darren Hardy’s audio book titled, “Living Your Best Year Ever”. Promising title, I thought. Another self-help book vowing to unlock my stifled, inner potential, now, and provide the universe’s secret to financial security and no more stress? Quite frankly, I’m not interested. You see, becoming a single mom at the age of nineteen, I’ve learned, if nothing else in the past six years, that anything worthwhile takes time, energy, effort, “stick-to-it-ness” and most importantly: hard work. I’ve also discovered that becoming a single mom, at nineteen, automatically propels you onto a few “lists”, one of which is: the Network Marketer’s Prospect List! Needless to say, I have been approached, on numerous occasions, to take a look at someone’s jewelry, shopping, energy or make-up business. With admiration of these entrepreneurial spirits and admiration for their endeavors, I am grateful they think of me. However, with little free time I have between working full time, being a mom full time and running a small Bundt cake business with my mom and sister, on the side, none of these ideas seemed appealing enough to look any further beyond a “First Look”.

…until Mila and Marney came along.

I was introduced, quite accidently, to Mila through Marney Rohda. To make a long story short, Marney’s consistent subtleties promoting the amazing health benefits of this miracle chia seed, Mila, started to catch my attention.

A little over a year ago I started having problems with my thyroid. A discovered enlarged nodule led to an aspiration in my throat which led to the finding of suspicious cells. All of which resulted in my endocrinologist ruling out every option, except surgery. I am only 26 for crying out loud! Thus began a scary road of unknowns and much personal investigation and research. “You’ve got to be your own doctor” is a phrase I’ve heard a lot in my household. Not at the discredit of doctors’ credibility and expertise, certainly we are advocates of health care professionals, but when it comes to your body you have to know what is best - personally, and act - accordingly.

I have been eating vitamins my whole life. My son has been too. Supplements, acupuncture, alternative medicines; these are not foreign to me, however I did not take my health as serious until it became in jeopardy. “It’s not real until it’s personal”. I decided against the recommendation of total removal of my thyroid, and opted for another way. One that would keep this vital organ intact and something that would be nourishing to my body’s cells. Without a formulated plan, I was simply following my intuition and resolved that surgery must be the last resort. I began meeting with a nutritionist and started there. It was around this same time I was also introduced to Mila. It was like an answer to prayer! “Here’s to nothing!” I thought. “I have nothing to lose!” Except my thyroid, I suppose.

To date, I have been eating Mila for a little over two months. Within the first 2 weeks I noticed tremendous benefits – particularly in my energy levels. I hadn’t realized how much a compromised thyroid can throw off balance – until Mila starting being a stabilizer in my health and wellness. I immediately noticed a change in my mood, endurance, and even my skin!

While I do not know definitively yet, whether or not my thyroid nodules are diminishing in size, I can’t help but be convinced that Mila is powerfully and positively impacting the cells in my body. Because I am now doing something about my health and taking a vested interest in my wellness, I am looking forward to going back for another thyroid ultrasound and aspiration in June 2012. I am hopeful there will be good news!

I am also passionate about Mila because I am able to share in the company’s vision of Global Outreach, by being a distributer of this Miracle Seed! While I am exciting about building my business through Lifemax, Inc. - and doing that intentionally - I am even more energized and enthusiastic about spreading the good news and planting seeds in people’s minds about Mila (pun intended); helping them to change their health with the potential of also improving their wealth! As an independent distributer, I get to do just that. It feels right and good knowing that introducing loved ones, friends, and strangers to Mila, might just change their lives too.
So when asked to write my “WHY Story”, for me it’s really… “WHY NOT?” Why can’t 2012 be the “Best Year of [My] Life”? Thanks dad, for getting my year started off on the right foot and thanks Marney for being a great leader in this business, while (seemingly) effortlessly staying the course!

“The shortest distance between two people is their story”

I appreciate you letting me share mine.... what’s yours? Here is to a year of taking charge of your health, increasing your wealth and having fun along the way!

To Your Best Health,

Kathleen FitzPatrick
